All rightie it’s that time of the year when we compare last year’s to-do list and see what I got done.
At the end of 2022, here’s what I said I wanted to accomplish in 2023…
1. Finish Wedding Leia — YES!
I did finish wedding Leia!
2. Rebels Leia — YES!
I have been saying I was going to do this for a few years and I can finally mark it off now.
3. Nadja – What We Do In the Shadows — YES!!
Last year I wasn’t sure which look I was going to do – I did the plaid dress!
4. Something Star Trek — YES!!
I did end up making a TOS Skant!
5. Breha Organa – Kenobi — YES!!
Man I am on fire.
6. Either Satine or a Padme — no
Didn’t do either of these because I ended up doing a couple of other unexpected things.
7. Endor Leia — still no
Will 2024 be it’s year? Who knows
8. MOM Scarlet Witch — nope
So all in all I did pretty good at doing what I said I was gonna do! So what else did I do? Quite a bit:
Jedi Training Flashback Leia
I hadn’t planned to do this one this year, but Chase started printing the helmet, I was way ahead for Dragoncon, soooo
Captain Seven of Nine
I really wanted to do this as soon as Picard ended. It came together fairly quickly. I do think I’ll be reshooting this one though — I think I want to touch up the wig and see if I can thin out the facial appliance and try again.
Agent Scully
Not a lot of sewing here, but still counting it because I completely cut and restyled this wig. Plus I did make the skirt, just not for this LOL
Stevie Nicks
A quick project for a Halloween weekend Stevie Nicks concert. I plan to make some upgrades to this next year! Firstly it needs to be taken up a bit, the vest is too big (wasn’t worried about it for the concert because I wanted to be comfortable), and I want to make the necklace and get a better wig. But did go ahead and shoot it so I had some better pics for now.
Darth Vader
Never in a million years did I think I’d be making another quilted pleather suit but here we are. Chase did the Rebels version of Vader for Dragoncon, and I made the shirt, pants and inner robe. It all went together surprisingly fast. The cape is still his original Vader cape – I just replaced the flaking pleather collar with new pleather for this one.
Bail Organa
Watching Kenobi and thinking… hmmm what if… LOL
So all of this except the cape is his Bail suit and accessories from 2021 that he wears with the teal robe. The Kenobi parts weren’t exactly the same but close enough I decided why not just make a close enough cape and he can match me as Breha? So scrambled together this grey velvet cape. Not accurate at all but I’m glad we got to match.
Skeleton Dress
Halloween project! And practice before I cut into my expensive Star Wars fabric for a similar dress.
Star Wars outfit
Even though we didn’t go to Disney this year, I still had something in my disneybound folder LOL I got this cute Star Wars knit earlier this year and I made another 2 piece oufit. I’ll hopefully have better pics of this after disney 2024 🙂
So… that was a lot.
Now onto the next part of our program, what’s next? Here’s the thing… I haven’t really thought about it. But here’s a few things I HAVE thought about.
1. Honeymoon Leia
I was SO hoping to have this finished in time to count it for 2024 but alas, between NYC and getting sick and christmas and photoshoots, it still needs a couple of weeks or work.
2. Star Wars Cruise Dress
The cotton version of the Star Wars outfit fabric above – I have plans to make a dress for our disney 2024 trip! Hopefully. Starting to feel like time is getting tight.
3. Baylan and Shin
So funny story, when I first made a folder to start collecting references, i didn’t know their names so the folder is just called “these guys”. Chase is doing Baylan, so I’m hopefully doing Shin. I haven’t done much research but Chase has, so after the disney trip I’ll dig in.
4. Tatooine Padme
Since I got the cape. I wanna do this. Fingers crossed I make myself get to it. Also did get a new Padme wig so hopefully that’s also an incentive to get me working on it.
5. Dream Dress (The Sequel)
Once again I have dreamed of a very specific costume that is not related to any fandom/movie/etc. And I really kinda want to make it if I can figure it out. No pic of course, it’s all in my head right now…
And then let’s roll these 2 back into the list again….
6. Endor Leia

7. MoM Scarlet Witch
Same here.
And now… some overthinking.
2022 I only did 4 costumes — 3 if you count the fact I did the majority of the work on Utena December 2021. And then this year a switch flipped and I couldn’t stop working on things. There’s stuff I did not even mentioned here, like reworking Chases Beefsquatch burger or adding onto my Jessica sleeves and repositioning snaps on packing padme. I could not. stop. working.
I have a lot of thoughts and feelings on why I did so much this year. I’ve joked that I’ve been in a manic phase, but in truth I don’t feel like that’s a joke. It feels better to immerse myself in sewing and a podcast than anything else right now. Although I feel like the phase is finally fading a bit. We’ll just have to see what happens in 2024.
